The Giver chapters 6-8

In the book the giver on chapters 6 through 8 Jonas is in the middle of December and about to turn from an eleven to a twelve. All of Jonas´ family, friends and other families attended to the ceremonies. First they start by giving people who wanted a child a new baby and a couple that had lost a child named Caleb in the river had received a new baby named Caleb to replace the old one.Which is odd to me because in real life no one can be replaced since everybody is different, unique and special in their own way. But going back to the story every single four turned into a five and every single five turned into a six and so on. Then it was lily's turn (Jonas little sister) along with all the other sevens and she turned from , big surprise, a seven to an eight. But she still didn't have a bike and had to wait one more year but she did get a new jacket which was cool. Finally the ceremony ended and everyone went home to get a good night rest for tomorrow the ceremony of twelve where the elder will pick the job that Jonas and his homies have for the rest of their life. The next day Jonas and Asher were talking about the jobs and how Asher was worried he had to escape if he got a bad choice but when it was time to become a twelve Asher got the job as assistant director of recreation and when it was Jonas turn they skipped him and he felt embarrassed, sad and strange, he felt like a dirt sandwich and after they told every kid their job the elders apologized to everyone for skipping Jonas, including Jonas, and said that Jonas was elected to be the new receiver of memory which was a job of great honor and skill and would require all of his bravery and courage to be able to learn all the new things because his training would involve pain, a lot of pain, pain that no one in the community knew about and no one could prepare him for that. Oh and his other friend Fiona was given the job for care of the old.
